Due to sand erosion along Waikiki Beach, sand replenishment was necessary to restore the beach to its approximate 1985 shoreline. Sand for replenishment was pumped from sand deposits about 450 – 500 meters offshore, dewatered on the beach to dry, then transported along the shore in the project area to achieve the designed beach profile. Bow Engineering was contracted by Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. (prime contractor) to perform water quality monitoring and reporting throughout the duration of the project.
