This expansion project consisted of the following facilities that would be used for seed research and processing on a 20-acre lot:
▪ Maintenance shop/storage buildings: 38,000 sq.ft.
▪ Foundation facility: 26,000 sq.ft.
▪ Employee building: 6,000 sq.ft.
▪ Seed laboratory: 81,600 sq.ft.
▪ Access road: 3,300 linear feet
▪ Package wastewater treatment plant
▪ 300 parking stalls
▪ Potable and non-potable water distribution systems
▪ On-site storm runoff detention and retention systems
To accommodate the large number of employees at these facilities, improvements to the off-site roadway system was required. This project encountered several challenges, including water source and sewer disposal system. The water system consists of both potable water from the adjacent public water system and non-potable water from the on-site water reservoir. The wastewater will be treated on-site with a “package plant” and disposal through a “trans-evaporation” system.
