In 2010, the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation qualified Green Homes at Lualualei as an affordable housing project, providing 25 single-family homes for low and moderate income residents on a three acre lot near Maili Beach Park in Nanakuli.
Bow Engineering provided civil engineering services for planning, permitting and construction administration. We were responsible for the infrastructure design of roadway, water, fire protection, sewer and drainage systems. We also prepared the erosion control, site, utility and grading plans. In addition, we performed a drainage analysis to size the on-site drainage system and to determine the capacity of the city drainage channel that was used as a discharge outlet.
An internal road and a 2,750-square-foot minipark fronting Farrington Highway were part of the development. To provide access between the subdivision and Farrington Highway, we conducted site investigation; prepared two civil concept designs for the highway entrance; and coordinated with state and city agencies, traffic impact analysis subconsultant and electrical design subconsultant. We also obtained an NPDES Permit for storm water runoff related to construction activities.
