The Koa’e Workforce Housing project is an affordable housing project located in Poipu, Kauai consisting of 134 units throughout 23 two-story buildings. Bow Engineering was contracted to do the civil site work for the buildings, parking, internal roads, and open spaces within the new community and widening of Poipu Road fronting the site. Also included in our scope of work was the civil design for water, fire, sewer, and drainage systems. Due to challenges posed by the surrounding environment, a drainage analysis determined drain pipes, grass swales, and underground detention systems should be incorporated into the site layout to aid with storm water drainage. This project is now 75% constructed. Below is a rendering that was done in the Conceptual Phase and pictures of the current construction.
