Rice Camp Senior Housing is an affordable housing project that involved the construction of 8 multi-unit dwellings, a community center, and several community gardens. Bow Engineering provided civil engineering services for grading, water, sewer and drainage.
Phase I included the construction of 7 buildings along with the roadway and parking area. Phase I was completed in May 2015 and is currently in use. Phase II is in design and will include an 8th building, parking area, and detention basin.
The site posed many difficult challenges including a large unlined drainage tunnel traversing the site, partial open zoning, multiple burial sites, and a public roadway bisecting the two parcels. Offsite improvements included walkways, crosswalks, and speed humps in effort to safely connect the two parcels.
